:: WENATCHEE

is there really an apple capital of the world?  you bet your sweet honey crisp there is…it’s the town of Wenatchee!  my good buddy Brian recently made the move from Seattle this smaller town located in central Washington, and i finally managed to nail down some dates for a visit.

the weather started off grey and cloudy on the west side of the Cascades, but gradually got warm and sunnier as I made my way over the Pass (there’s always more sun over on the east side).  along the way i made a few photo stops for some amazing autumn scenery including an incredible spot in Cle Elum along the water and through Blewett Pass.  i was constantly amazed at all the vibrant colors from dusty purples and pinks to fiery reds and oranges along the highway.

i finally arrived at Brian’s casa mid afternoon, located in East Wenatchee (actually a different town than Wenatchee itself) up on a bluff overlooking the valley.  the views from the back of his house stretched over the valley along the Wenatchee River (which eventually spills into the Columbia)…stunning!

we did a warm, dusty but fun hike in the Nahahum Canyon after a winding drive through the golden hills just north of the small town Cashmere.  just a mile or so through the canyon was the Nahahum Trailhead where we started the ascent up the hills on a well worn path.  we were quickly offered sweeping vistas of the whole canyon with the rolling hills and farmlands.  up the trail was a dense area of pine trees at the very top of the climb.  we walked out to an opening and launched the drone for unobstructed view of the valley.

after a night with Brian at his digs i hit the road home going westbound through Leavenworth (a Bavarian town about 30 minutes from Wenatchee) and found more beautiful autumn scenes along the way to document.  the weather was flawless with the sun out and helping add saturation to all the trees and foliage.
